“Run one-eleven”(Part 1)

Well its been a long time since I posted here, to be very honest there wasn’t anything very interesting to point to or talk about that I came across recently other than Card No. 111, which is very apt for the situation I am in.Writing something everyday does require tremendous amount of dedication,I was foolish enough to think that it was something I could pull off real easy. Its been close to 4 months since college was one thing less on my list to worry about but life has a way of keeping the list balanced by replacing struck out items by new ones in my case the hunt for a Job-I guess that’s life for you.Even though I have been constantly writing posts in the background they always seems to need something to complete it like my long over due post about the wireless router which is waiting for some photos to be posted online.

Let’s keep the blog and Card 111 aside for the time being and do a quick recap of the 4 months in Rahul’s life. Soon after college I was approached by a start up in a very nascent stage(they were still thinking of a name) to develop software for a wireless device which could take the order placed by a customer in a Restaurant and transmit it  to a wireless’s  printer in the Kitchen and save a copy in the DB for processing at a later stage(create a bill and for inventory control).I zeroed in on the iPod Touch as the ideal device for a variety of reasons firstly it would blend right in to the swish upscale environs the product was targeted at,it had Wireless connectivity built in and it has one of the best mobile browsers out there ( during the initial brain storming session the management at the start up wanted me to create a J2ME Application which was definitely not suitable for the situation ),one of the biggest factors in the favour of the iPhone was the cost it was in essence half of what they were considering to buy.I decided to deviate from the Native App development approach due to a variety of licensing issues ( the app wasn’t going to be stand alone it was going to be part of a package comprising both hardware and software ) finally it was decided to use PHP to develop a Web-APP to accept orders from the customer the app itself would run in the browser. The project progressed quite a bit but then suddenly the management stopped all communication and their phones are always switched off,to this day I am still waiting for my dues. I can understand issues in a start up environment cash crunches but communication is real essential in keeping relations healthy this is totally unacceptable.I am going to send out the famous due collection e-mail to them and if it still does not work out I am going to open source my part of the work for anyone interested in implementing a similar solution with a general idea on how to go about the whole thing.

Will continue this post later you do want to know about Card 111(resist your urge to google it learn to be patient its worth the wait, right check back later)

Update:-Recently got through the management they were going through some really difficult times
